Two-semester course in teaching beginners through early advanced pianists, integrated with a beginner group teaching lab experience
Piano Pedagogy I (Graduate)
Philosophical foundations, music learning processes, curriculum development, and effective instructional approaches for teaching piano. Focus on elementary learners including adult learners in group settings. Practicum teaching/observation required.
Internship in Piano Teaching (Graduate)
Teaching college group piano classes under faculty supervision. Designed to give the student experience in areas where none exists.

Analysis of current research, publications, and trends in piano pedagogy. Includes developing skills in resource discovery, topic development, academic writing, library resources, and bibliographic style. Preparation for DMA Projects and Workshops. A new research topic is developed for each offering.
